Dr. Cobb’s approach to therapy is practical, short-term, and goal-oriented. He works collaboratively with clients to help them build on their own self-healing capacities, strengths and resources; to explore different ways of viewing the problem that enhance rather than limit possibilities and solutions; to stimulate changes in the way that clients interact with family members or others so that they get “unstuck” from patterns of behaviour that maintain relationship problems; and to strengthen emotional connections and bonds.
His theoretical orientation combines aspects of cognitive-behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, systemic-belief therapy, systems theory, communication theory, structural family therapy, and emotionally-focused therapy for couples.
