More About Maria Schmid:
It takes courage to seek help when life isn’t going smoothly and our regular methods of coping are not solving the issues we encounter. Unresolved issues can often get the better of us and we find ourselves backed into a corner either fighting to get out or submitting to the circumstance. It is my intention to help you in those moments to find new ways of coping, understanding and resolving the issue, so that you are empowered with the skills and resources to meet life’s many challenges.
As both a Psychologist and Life Coach, it is my intention to engage you in objective, supportive and safe conversations about the isolating issues we all face. I am passionate and committed to the health and wholeness of individuals, families and communities.

My preferred areas of practice include addressing the many types of transitions we encounter through life that keenly make us aware of our humanity, capacities and limitations. Examples of life transitions can include facing health issues that threaten our quality of life, starting or letting go of important relationships, adventures of being in a family, discerning or changing a career, searching for meaning and dealing with life’s unexpected turn of events. Often what results from these transitions are feelings of anxiety, loss, stress, depression, anger and feeling stuck. I strive to reveal to clients that these life transitions can also include positive moments of learning, and personal insight, decision, opportunity and growth.

I work with older children, adolescents, adults and the elderly as individuals, couples and families. My natural ability to make people feel at ease and learn to listen to themselves, while offering concrete tools and strategies, has been greatly appreciated by those for whom I have counselled.

Fees:
Professional fees for counseling are based on the fee schedule provided by the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta. You may request a copy of this schedule.
Please note that services can be reimbursable in whole or in part by Extended Health Care Plans. Direct billing can often be arranged for your convenience. Psychological services are also a tax-deductible medical expense.
Payment may be made by cash, cheque or major credit card.
If you are currently experiencing financial difficulties, alternative fee arrangements may be arranged, please do not hesitate to ask.
